Rehoming Process
To enquire about adopting an animal, please complete the online enquiry form by clicking ‘ENQUIRE ABOUT ME’ under the photo of the animal you’re interested in.
Once your enquiry is processed and it seems you’re a good match based on the information you’ve provided about your lifestyle and the details we have on the animal, you’ll receive an email or phone call from our re-homing team with more information.
You will then be asked to provide a video showing your home and garden (e.g. fence height, cat flap, etc.). We’ll guide you through the requirements. This helps us ensure that your home would be a suitable environment for the animal you’re interested in. If all goes well, we’ll arrange a visit for you and your family to meet the animal.
Our team will be on hand to answer any questions you may have. All necessary paperwork will be sent electronically for completion.
Once everything is in order, we’ll arrange a date for you to collect your new pet. Rest assured, you’ll receive ongoing support from the Sanctuary. We’re always available by phone to offer advice or help with settling your new pet in.
Adopting a rescue animal is an exciting journey, but it can also be a little overwhelming for them. Some animals may take longer to adjust than others, and we’ll be here to guide you through the process.
Thank you for considering offering a loving home to a rescue animal.

Rehoming an animal from Ferne and managing expectations with the RULE OF 3
Who can adopt?
We are committed to finding the right home for each animal, considering their unique needs and experiences. We rehome to families with children or other pets if the animal is suited to the environment, and to working individuals with a plan to ensure the animal isn’t left alone for long. We also rehome to senior owners, provided there’s a care plan or support network. Our approach is flexible, as long as the pet’s needs are met or exceeded.
We're here to help
At Ferne, we provide lifelong support for every animal adopted. We’ll stay in regular contact – not as a check on you, but as a reminder that we’re always here to offer assistance whenever you need it. If, for any reason, a change in your life makes it difficult for you to continue offering a home to the animal, we guarantee that they will always have a place at Ferne and will never be homeless again.
For more details or to arrange an appointment, please call us on 01460 65214.
If the type of animal you wish to re-home isn’t available we are happy to place you on a waiting list.
Please note: A minimum donation to help carry out the work of the Sanctuary is requested upon successful rehoming.
