Governance

Ferne Animal Sanctuary was founded by Nina, Duchess of Hamilton and Brandon at the onset of World War 2. The Duchess realised that the men and women going away to war would have no-one to look after their animals whilst they were away. Sadly as we all know many did not return and so Ferne Animal Sanctuary was born.

Originally the sanctuary was set up as an unincorporated charitable trust but the governance of the organisation was revised and updated in 2016 when the charity became incorporated.

Board of Trustees

The charity is run by its Board of Trustees that oversee the strategy and governance of the organisation and ensure that it meets its objects as set out.
