Ronnie has been with us for nearly a year now. That is a very long time for a dog to be without a home to call his own or an owner to love.
Not unsurprisingly, he has become depressed in kennels and longs for a favourite place to curl up and an owner who will give him the love, playtime and cuddles he deserves.
“Ronnie is a three-year-old neutered male Lurcher who was badly mistreated and neglected by his previous owner, so he’s nervous of new people or situations,” said Tara Nirula, Re-Homing Manager at Ferne. “He is anxious around other dogs, so you can only imagine how difficult it is for him to be in kennels. Here he is scared, sad and withdrawn, spending most of the day lying in bed needing regular reassuring cuddles from our staff. However, despite his difficult situation, he is an extremely loving and appreciative of all the attention our staff give him.”
Slowly but surely, he is learning to trust other people and dogs, but he will continue to need lots of reassurance, patience and love. He is intelligent and loves playing with his toys but is just as happy to enjoy a good snooze or cuddle too. With the right home and owner, this boy will repay you in loyalty and love.
He would be well suited to a rural home with an owner who could enjoy his company most of the time, ideally with one person or an older couple, without children or other pets.
