We have two lovely dogs, Ronnie and Bobby who are desperately waiting for homes to call their own.
Ronnie is a three-year-old neutered male Lurcher who has been at the Sanctuary for nearly a year now and Bobby, a six-year-old neutered Patterdale X. Both have become depressed in kennels as they need owners to love and a favourite place to call their own. Some playtime and cuddles wouldn’t go amiss either.
“Ronnie was badly mistreated and neglected by his previous owner, so understandably, he can be nervous of new people or situations,” said Tara Nirula, Re-Homing Manager at Ferne. “They are both anxious around other dogs, so you can only imagine how difficult it is for them to be in kennels. Ronnie is scared, sad and withdrawn, spending most of the day lying in bed needing regular reassuring cuddles from our staff. To both dogs’ credit, despite their difficult situation, they are very loving and appreciative of all the attention we can give them here.”
Either of these dogs would be well suited to a rural home with owners who were at home most of the time, ideally with just one person or an older couple and without children or other pets.
Slowly but surely, they are learning to trust other people and dogs, but they will continue to need lots of reassurance, patience and love with this. They are intelligent and love playing with their toys but greatly enjoy a good snooze and cuddle too. With the right home and owner, either of them would make a very loyal and loving companion.
If you feel you could be the home with the love either of these dogs are longing for, please call the Sanctuary on 01460 65214 or have a look here for further details.
