Surrendering your animal
We’re here to help if you think you may need to give up your dog or cat for adoption. We will never judge you for needing to find your animal a new home and realise what a tough decision this has been.
We’ll do everything we can to help. However, in some circumstances, we won’t be able to take the dog or cat in for you. Of course. we’ll let you know if this is the case and provide you with additional numbers of rescues that may be able to help.
Please complete the on-line form (one for each animal) being completely open and honest. The more we know the easier it will be for us to find the best possible new home for your dog or cat. We understand how difficult this may be for you but please remember that we are here to help you and your pet.
Ferne Animal Sanctuary will endeavour to help as many people as possible who need to rehome their dog or cat. However we’re a rehoming centre and there will be some animals we are unable to take in. Each case will be looked at and alternative advice given should the animal not be able to be admitted into our care. We understand how difficult this process can be for people and our team here at Ferne are very happy to talk to any owners who are in need of help and support.

Due to a global shortage in cat vaccinations we are having to be careful who we admit. Stray cats and those with unknown vaccination history will pose a high risk to others in a cattery. Having a dense population of cats poses a higher risk to their health than being at home, let alone being unvaccinated as well. Naturally, we need to be mindful to protect the cats we already have as well as any new ones. If at all possible, we would urge anyone looking to place their cat in rescue to try and get their vaccinations up to date.
